  • Why Copper?
Copper is a trace mineral which is essential for human health. It exists naturally in small quantities in the human body. Copper is necessary to help regulate oxygen in the blood stream. Scientists estimate that we need about 1.2 milligrams of copper daily to effectively aid enzymes to transfer energy into our cells. Copper is naturally self-sterilizing and has a toxic effect on pathogens, even the antibiotic-resistant bacteria or super-germs like MRSA. If you store potable water in a copper vessel overnight and drink it the next day, such water may contain enough trace copper for body functions like digestion, wound-healing, flow of sensory information, and providing nutrition to the skin and hair. Copper deficiency may be one of the many causes of fatigue and weakness. Copper is essential for absorbing iron from the gut. When copper levels are low, the body may absorb less iron. This can cause iron deficiency (anaemia), a condition in which the body is unable to carry enough oxygen to its tissues. Copper has antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties. Water infused with Copper helps cleanse and detox our stomach, regulates the working of liver and flushes the kidneys and the gastrointestinal tract. Also Copper being anti-bacterial and an effective anti-oxidant, improves immunity, supports good health, prevents aging, eliminates toxins and free radicals, and stimulates the brain. Copper is essential for the production of red blood cells, the development of metabolic enzymes and a range of immunological functions within the body. Studies have shown that copper has anti-inflammatory properties and helps in arthritis and other inflammatory pains. Modern Science validates this and reveals that copper can help fight cancer and hypertension. According to the American Cancer Society, copper has been found to help regulate blood pressure, heart rate and lower one's cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
  • What does Copper do to water & how it helps us?
Copper makes the water ionic which helps to maintain body's pH (acid-alkaline) balance. Water stored in copper vessels turns slightly alkaline. Studies have shown that natural alkaline water has a variety of health benefits. Also, Copper is ‘Oligodynamic' in nature. That is, it has sterilizing effect on bacteria. Thus, storing water in a copper bottle purifies the water. It kills the micro-organisms, fungi, algae, bacteria, and mould in the water that could be harmful to our body. Ancient Indian scriptures and Ayurvedic texts recommend drinking water stored overnight in a copper jug and drinking it first thing in the morning for maintaining good health. Regular use of Copper infused water aids in better digestion, controlling or slowing down ageing and in weight loss. It’s recommended to leave the water in the copper bottle for at least three hours to effectively purify the water. Leave it overnight, if possible.
  • Is it safe for you to drink plain water from a Copper Bottle?
According to WHO, there are several genetic disorders that affect copper utilization. Consult your medical practitioner if you’re suffering from Wilson’s disease (a toxicity disorder), Menkes disease (a deficiency disorder), occipital horn syndrome, and any other copper transport disorders. Copper intakes in the 1–10 mg/day range may have adverse effects for individuals that carry the Wilson disease gene and for infants or children genetically predisposed for one of the childhood copper cirrhosis syndromes. So unless you suffer from these disorders, drinking plain water which is slightly cold or at room temperature from a copper bottle will not only be safe but beneficial for you.
  • How to use Copper?
The oligodynamic effect (copper ions dissolving in water) works wonders on drinking water when it is stored in a copper utensil for more than 6-8 hours, eliminating any harmful entities present therein. This is why it is recommended to store water overnight before drinking first thing in the morning. Drinking 3-4 glasses of copper infused water during the day is sufficient for a day. Too much of anything is bad. Excess copper can also cause health problems. Long-term overconsumption of copper can lead to copper toxicity, which affects multiple systems in the body, including the stomach, kidneys, liver, and brain. Therefore, it is advisable that copper bottles should only be used three months at a time. So, if you are drinking from copper, say, for 2-3 months, it is advisable to take a break of a month or more and then resume the practice. Although the risk of copper poisoning is extremely low, one can’t always guarantee its safety.
  • Precautions while using Copper?
Copper bottles must be used only to store plain water. Citrus drinks, juices and hot beverages must not be put in copper bottles. Drinking anything with a pH below 6.0 from a copper vessel is unsafe. That would include anything with vinegar, fruit juice and wine, both heat and acidity react with copper, dissolving it and causing it to potentially leak into your drink, which could potentially cause copper toxicity and its associated symptoms. According to WHO, there are several genetic disorders that affect copper utilization. Please consult your doctor if you suffer from such disorders before you start drinking from a copper vessel. Copper vessels and other copper products are NOT MICROWAVE SAFE & NOT DISH WASHER SAFE. DO NOT FREEZE your copper vessels and DO NOT CLEAN WITH METAL SCRUBBER. Always ensure to stock water at room temperature to enjoy desired health benefits. Regular cleaning is essential. Care must be taken to see that green patches of Copper Sulphate are not being formed inside of the copper bottles. Ingesting water infused with copper sulphate may cause vomiting and can be mildly poisonous. Please rinse inside of the bottle/vessel with warm water and mild detergent before first use.
  • What are the ways to clean Copper Bottles?
Copper bottles should be cleaned periodically. Your bottle comes with lacquer coating outside, so outer surface may not require cleaning for a long time. However, it is the inside that requires regular cleaning which is important to prevent cross-contamination and to avoid build-up of excessive Patina (usually a mixture of copper carbonate and copper hydroxide). Copper bottles should not be cleaned in Dish Washers. METAL SCRUBBERS MUST NOT BE USED, use soft foam instead. (Outer surface may be wiped with plain water at room temperature using hand or foam scrubber) Here are some ways to clean the inside of your bottles: A. Lemon and Salt method: To clean the inside of the bottle, squeeze half a lemon directly into the bottle’s mouth, along with a tablespoon of salt and half a cup of water. Then, vigorously shake for about a minute or two. Pour the mixture out and rinse it with plain water or with mild dish liquid. Using a bottle brush will be helpful. B. Vinegar and Salt method: It has the same process as above. Only you replace lemon with vinegar. Put 1 tablespoon salt and 2 spoons of white vinegar into the bottle and fill it with water and leave it for some time and then rinse it with plain water. C. Baking Soda: Mix the baking soda with white vinegar until you achieve a paste-like consistency. Then, rub the mixture on the inside of the copper bottle using a bottle brush. Let it sit for about half an hour before rinsing it with plain water. If you do not have vinegar, you can use lemon instead, to mix with baking soda.

Our bottles are made of heavy gauge copper of more than 99% purity. The composition is such that the copper remains foodsafe and has enough strength to ensure that vessels or utensils constructed are long lasting. Our bottles are not Copper Coated but pure copper. The Outer Surface is coated with lacquer to maintain the shine of the surface, prevent it from tarnishing and keep it fingerprint resistant but the inner surface has no coating. This absence of coating ensures that your water comes in direct contact with copper.
